Best Practices

The goal of building a sustainable infrastructure for nano manufacturing can not be met without the creation of Standards, Specifications and Practices. This page will link you to the advanced efforts in these areas:

Best Practices:

Nano Risk Framework Now Available from DuPont

Environmental Defense and DuPont are pleased to announce the public launch of the Nano Risk Framework, a new tool for evaluating and addressing the potential risks of nanoscale materials.

In 2005 several ORC Worldwide members companies contributed to an ORC Task Force in order to share best knowledge and SH&E practice relating to nanotechnology. Members felt that it was important to share information with each other and also externally with others who may not have access to professional SH&E staffing. To that end, with the help of our members, ORC constructed a compendium of SH&E practices and posted it on the public access section of our web site.

In “Approaches to Safe Nanotechnology,” NIOSH invites information and comment from stakeholders.  This information exchange will advance our shared understanding of the current scientific knowledge related to occupational safety and health issues.  This living document also makes recommendations for interim steps in employing the range of control technologies, work practices, and personal protective equipment demonstrated to be effective with other fine and ultrafine particles. These recommendations will be refined as more data become available.

NNIN Education Portal

The NanoEd Resource Portal is a dynamic repository for information dissemination, research and collaborations among the community of nanoscale science and engineering education (NSEE) learners, teachers and researchers. The goal of NanoEd Resource Portal is to build up a comprehensive network and resource sharing to serve the greater NSEE community.  http://nanoed.org/aboutNanoEd.html
